He was involved in Trade Activities as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Company Association and was technical and legal officer in such Association, where he started his professional career. Fernando has published a considerable number of articles and has been involved in many conferences as either Speaker or Panel Member.

In Mapfre Colombia, besides being the General Manager, he was also president of its Board of Directors and member of the Board of Directors of Mapfre Re in Spain and London. Once Mapfre acquired the entire capital of the Insurance Company in Colombia, Fernando resume his practice as a lawyer and reestablished the law office of his elders.

In 1997 Fernando was designated as Class A Arbitrator of the Center of Arbitration of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota in the specialties of Insurance Law and Commercial Law.

Throughout his career in the world of arbitration, Fernando has been involved in over 30 national Courts cases after being selected by either the Parties or the Center of Arbitration. He has acted as president many times in such Courts.

Local Courts have been related to issues on Commercial Law, Financial Law, Insurance Law and lately on Infrastructure arising from the significant practice the Firm he directs has developed lately in this field.

In later years he has been designated as International Arbitrator by the CCI Court in Paris as well as International Courts hearing sensitive issues on insurance law and business law.

As a trial lawyer he has represented the Juridical Defense Agency of Colombia, the National Infrastructure Agency – ANI, before several Courts.

Among his function as Managing Partner in EM&A, ha has directed complex legal and financial structuring projects, such as a Group of 4^th Generation Concessions. Power generation for more than US$3 billion, airport privatization, BTR systems for Bogota, Cali, Medellin and Barranquilla.

He has also acted as consultant for Entities attached to the World Bank and other multilateral Entities in sustainable transportation infrastructure, among other countries, in Indonesia, Tanzania, Salvador and Ecuador.

In the Conflict Resolution area, where he also holds specialized training, he has successfully participated in complex and substantial proceedings involving disputes among Partners, between Companies and their Clients or Suppliers and between Government Entities of different tiers.
